Answer
A text code is sometimes required before certain features open. The code has to come from a mobile number that belongs to the account holder. Each mobile number can verify only one account.
When this applies
This fits when a feature asks for text verification.
What to do
- Use a mobile number from a mobile phone provider, such as Sprint, T-Mobile, or Verizon. The number has to belong to the account holder.
- Enter the number with a 1 before the area code, and with no parentheses or dashes. A number shown as 1-234-567-8901 is entered as 12345678901.
- Enter the code within 10 minutes of requesting it. The 10 minutes start when the code is requested, not when it arrives. A code also stops working when a new code is requested.
Numbers that cannot be used
A VOIP number, a landline, a Wi-Fi line, Google Voice, Skype, or a disposable number bought over the counter cannot be used. A number that belongs to someone else cannot be used. A number already used to verify another account cannot be used again.
If the number is not accepted, that number cannot verify this account. Further help is required for that number.
If that didn't work
If too many attempts were made to enter the code, wait at least 24 hours before trying again.
If the code is rejected, request it again and enter the new code within 10 minutes. Do not request a second code while the first one is still being entered.
When to contact us
Further help is required when a mobile number is not accepted. Further help is not available when several incorrect codes were entered and the message says the account could not be verified.
