Answer
Being asked for a photo ID is a check that the account belongs to the person using it. Swagbucks asks for identity verification to protect members and to stop unauthorized activity. The check is usually finished in a few minutes.
When this applies
This fits when the account is asked to complete identity verification.
A text code to a mobile phone is a different check. How do I verify my account by text? explains that. A link in a signup email is also different. How do I verify my email address? explains that. A message that the account is suspended is covered in Why is my account suspended?
What to do
- Open the identity verification prompt. The check is handled by Persona, a US company, on Persona’s own site.
- Provide what Persona asks for. That is usually a photo of a government-issued ID and a selfie.
- Wait for the result. The check usually takes a few minutes. Some results need up to 10 more business days to be reviewed and confirmed.
Identity verification is described in the Terms of Use. How Persona protects information is on Persona’s security page and in Persona’s privacy policy.
If that didn't work
Finish the prompt Persona shows. A new selfie or a clearer photo of the ID is what the prompt asks for when the first image cannot be read. The 10 business days apply when a review is still open, not as a wait before starting the check.
